SYNOPSIS

It’s back to school everywhere on the planet. Four children begin their first year of school with the same excitement but realities which are getting more and more different… In Quebec (Canada), Émile looks forward to boarding his first yellow school bus. In Palestine, Soraida and her mother walk anxiously in front of the military post leading to her new school. In Nepal, Kusum eats her meager snack sitting among children she does not know, and in the Haitian countryside, Junior proudly waves to his grandfather who will be his first teacher.

Deep inside humanity takes us into the daily life and universe of four children from very different backgrounds, who live, each in their own way, their first year of school. This pivotal year when the world of reading and writing opens up to us. From morning rushes to playgrounds squabbles, to the solemn silence of a first exam, this film is both a child’s look at the adult who is told to become, and an adult look on the child he would still like to be.

Deep inside humanity will be shot over almost two years, from September 2019 to June 2021. It should be available on our screens in the year 2022… A long-term project!
